Despite an enhancement of two years in the retirement age of the state government employees there are 77970 vacancies in all the Jammu and Kashmir government departments including the PSU’s. These included 5778 Gazetted, 37169 Non-Gazetted and 12876 Class IV vacancies. This was revealed on Monday by the government in response to a question in state assembly.

The government said responding to the question of Indo Pawar, that the department of Transport has 149 vacancies, Industries & commerce department has vacancies while as the department of social welfare has 67 vacant posts.

The government said that recruitment process against the posts falling under the direct recruitment quota, as referred to various recruitment agencies is in progress. “So far 9295 posts have been filled up by various recruiting agencies since, March 2013.

It said that the recruitment process in respect of other vacancies is under process.

Government said that besides for selection of over 5500 non-gazetted vacancies of different categories, the SSB has already issued schedule for conduct of examination in August/September, 2014.

“The recruitment for over 6530 posts has been finalized but orders cannot be issued in view of various Court directions, the government reply said adding that the PSC has recently made selection of 99 posts through Combined Competitive Examination-2013, and 63 posts of Veterinary Assistant Surgeons in Animal Husbandry and Veterinary services. 782 Gazetted appointments have also been made by PSC in Health and Medical education Department since April 2013.
