SRINAGAR: A group of Kashmiris students are stranded in Hissar in Haryana. They are seeking early evacuation insisting they are running short of cash and provisions.

Students Stranded At Hissar

“We contacted the nodal officer and he assured us that we will be evaluated on May 7,” the students told Kashmir Life on phone. “But nothing happened. Now the officer is not picking the phone and we sent him text message but there is no response.” They said Inderjit is the Nodal Officer who is supposed to take care of Haryana and Delhi.

The students said they are around 12 students including two girls. “The two girls are the only two persons in two different hostels and they are frightened,” the students said. “We are scattered ins some other hostels.”

The students said one of the girls is unwell and she is also scared of living alone in a hostel. “Last night, her family was calling her and she did not pick the phone,” the students said. “Then, the family contacted us at around 12 in the night and we went to see her and found her all right but scared.”

Of the two girls, one is from Qazigunad and another from Baramulla. All these students were enrolled in private coaching centre as part of the preparations for the JRF.

“Yesterday we visited the SDM and he said he has no information from Jammu and Kashmir if at all they are evacuating the students,” the students said. “We are seeking evacuation at the earliest as most of the students from Punjab have started going home.”
