The ongoing nine-day Kashmir Summer Tourism Festival 2014 (started with an aim to ‘revive tourism’ in the state) Sunday ‘enthralled’ the audience at Srinagar’s SKICC with Sufi music performance by the best names in the genre. Kashmir Life’s Durdana Bhat captures some glimpses of the event
Hans Raj Hans, the renowned Punjabi Sufi singer was the main attraction on the event. His musical notes not only send him into a ‘trance’, but scores in the audience couldn’t help to escape the influence of his notes.And then the singer simply unplugged himself and soon, he was seen drifting from his usual pose and posture.Meanwhile in audience, some were making it sure to capture each moment of the event.And some were on their toes: whistling, cheering and shouting. The music had indeed set them on sizzle.While on the stage, the singer from Punjab was joined by local Sufi singers. Smiles were all around.And this man needs no introduction. He too was feeling the music.Amid shouts and whistles, some were playing quiet audience.Amid all this, musical instruments kept the atmosphere lively.And then, Rashid Jahangir added the local flavour to the event.Another local artist Dhananjay Koul enthralled the audience with his performance.Like his ilk, this man made the show worthwhile for the audience.Everyone seemed to have a great time.Famed Sufi Singer of Kashmir, Abdul Rashid Hafiz also performed on the event.Inside the packed auditorium, some were seen occupying the first floor to witness the musical event.It was truly a musical evening for the everyone inside SKICC.
