Reacting to the announcement by Union Government on the floor of Parliament that there was no proposal of separate Sainik or Pandit colonies in Kashmir, MLA Langate, Er Rasheed on Wednesday termed it “as vindication of stand taken by Kashmiris”.

While interacting with AIP workers in Srinagar on Wednesday, a statement issued by the party quoting Rasheed said, “it is now proven beyond doubt that those opposing construction of Sainik and Pandit Colonies were neither Pakistani agents nor miscreants, but ‘true-patriotic’ Kashmiris, who were not objecting to these draconian plans for the sake of opposition but their stand had strong logics and argument.”

“It was only after consistent and stiff resistance to these proposals that Union Government had to announce abandoning its colonial designs at floor of the parliament. The announcement though has vindicated stand of Kashmiris, however, New Delhi needs to give up its colonial attitude over all other issues and has to accept the bitter realities sooner or later and give right to self determination to people of J&K,” he added.

The MLA Langate said that every Kashmiri is always ready to welcome Kashmiri Pandits back to their homes and give them respect, sense of security and dignity, “whatsoever possible”, but it is Kashmiri Pandits who have to make a choice between getting packages and returning to their ancestral places.
