SRINAGAR: Police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district have arrested an absconder who had been wanted in a case registered nearly a decade ago, officials said.
A team from Rehambal police apprehended the accused, identified as Mohd Tahir, a resident of Hanjana Thakra in Rajouri district, on Monday, they said.
Tahir was wanted in a case registered in 2016 under provisions relating to disobedience of a government order and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
He had been declared an absconder, while warrants for his arrest were issued by the Special Mobile Magistrate, Udhampur, on July 27, 2016, police said.
The Rehambal police acted on the outstanding warrants and arrested Tahir, who will be produced before the court for further legal proceedings, officials said.
