ACB Arrests Revenue Official Red-Handed in Bribe Case

   

SRINAGAR:  The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested Patwari, Gulzar Ahmad Ganie, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 in Anantnag district.

An ACB said, “We received a complaint that the Patwari was demanding Rs 10,000 for granting permission to cut a branch of a Chinar tree.”

“Acting swiftly, a trap was laid today, and the accused Patwari was caught red-handed outside his office while accepting the bribe amount,” the official said.

ACB official said, “The trap was laid in a well-coordinated manner by officers and officials of the ACB South Circle. The accused was arrested on the spot with marked currency notes and taken into custody. The Bureau has registered an FIR under number 1/2025 at Police Station ACB Anantnag, and further investigation has been initiated.”

“ACB reiterates its firm commitment to rooting out corruption and urges people to come forward and report such cases without any fear,” the official added. (JKNS)
