SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday filed a charge-sheet against 11 accused persons, including officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and private beneficiaries, in a case related to violations of building permission norms in Srinagar.
The charge-sheet was presented before the Court of the Additional Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Srinagar in FIR No. 24/2020, registered under Section 5(1)(d) read with 5(2) of the JK Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code.
According to the ACB, the case pertains to the construction of six illegal structures at Jawahar Nagar, Gonikhan, Hari Singh High Street and Wazir Bagh areas of Srinagar without obtaining valid building permissions from the competent authority, allegedly in connivance with SMC officials.
The agency said its investigation, based on oral and documentary evidence, has substantiated the charges against four public servants of the SMC and seven private beneficiaries. It added that a criminal conspiracy between officials and beneficiaries has been established during the probe.
Following prosecution sanction from the government, the charge-sheet has been submitted for judicial determination. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for June 16, 2026.
