SRINAGAR

 To assess the feasibility of various projects proposed to be taken up by the J&K Economic Reconstruction Agency (J&K ERA) under the Jammu and Kashmir Urban Sector Development Investment Programme (JKUSDIP), Asian Development Bank (ADB) conducted 4-day visit to the Valley.

Among the visiting team of ADB Senior Manager, Atsushi Kaneko, Resettlement Consultant ADB Ron Slangen visited various sites proposed for the projects for the construction of new water supply transmission means to augment the safe drinking water facility in Srinagar city, besides the sites for the construction of drainage and sewerage project.

The team also visited site of proposed raw water transmission main from Rangil to Harwan which would involve laying of closed ductile pipeline from Rangil head works to Harwan Reservoir as an alternate to existing open raw water channel.

The team also had an interaction with the locals who apprised them about the problems being faced by them due to water logging during rainy season. The team had elaborate discussions regarding the technical, social and environmental aspects of the proposed projects.
