Expressing serious concern over cold shoulder response shown by the government to the genuine demands including the issue of pay anomaly in different ranks of Jammu and Kashmir Police, the CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Saturday urged the government to address the long pending demands of police force without any further delay.

“The issue of pay anomaly pertains to almost 90 per cent of the police force and the government must resolve this long pending issue which would have a very positive effect on the overall morale of the police in the state,” state Marxist leader said.

Tarigami urged the chief minister Omar Abdullah to intervene into the matter for its speedy disposal. He said it is regrettable that even after implementation of the 6th Pay Commission recommendations in the state, the issue of pay anomalies continues to persist in the police department as the state government did not address the same in time.

“The pay anomaly in police department has brewed a sense of disillusionment among police force which needs to be addressed on priority. The government should not leave this issue of utmost importance to the procedural wrangling and the required orders must be issued keeping in view the price rise and the inflation,” he demanded.
