SRINAGAR: Police have arrested a young man from Budgam in a case of rumour mongering using social networking websites. The case was registered in Sopore, police confirmed.
Identified as Hamza Farooq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Kanipora Chadoora, police said he was administrator of Facebook page JK News Channel. On April 18, 2017, police said the page had uploaded the information that “one person was killed and 15 others injured in Sopore.” The information was baseless and false, police said.
Police in Sopore had already registered a case FIR No 99 of 2017 under sections 505, 120 B RPC and 66 IT Act.
