SRINAGAR: Authorities have ordered the closure of all government and private schools across Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district on Wednesday as a precautionary measure amid adverse weather conditions triggered by continuous rainfall.
According to the district administration, the decision has been taken in view of the prevailing weather situation to ensure the safety of students. However, all schools have been directed to continue academic activities through online classes as per the prescribed schedule.
Officials have advised students and parents to follow all instructions issued by the district administration and school authorities.
Meanwhile, widespread rainfall and scattered thunderstorms are forecast across Jammu and Kashmir over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), along with independent forecasters at Kashmir Weather, has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds.
The wet spell is expected to intensify on Thursday (July 30) and Friday (July 31), with high-risk areas likely to face localised flash floods, cloudbursts and landslides, according to the weather advisories.
