Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Shalindra Kumar today convened a joint meeting of officers and representatives of various Transport Unions to discuss the measures for improving traffic movement in Capital City Srinagar.

Threadbare discussion was held to clear the impediments confronting the traffic movement in busy streets like Jehangir Chowk, Batmaloo etc.

As per a statement the Divisional Commissioner enjoined to adopt a joint strategy to tackle with the traffic jamming. He has further directed for removal of encroachments by road side vendors and clears all impediments speedily.

Kumar has also underlined the need for organizing awareness camps in various educational institutions regarding traffic management.

The Divisional Commissioner has also directed traffic authorities to ensure that traffic shall ply at all routes till 10 pm so that people do not face any inconvenience. He has also urged for keeping transport facility available at Hospitals so that patients and their attendants do not suffer in exigencies.

Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Inspector General of Police Traffic, Kashmir, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority and other officers were present.
