SRINAGAR: The government on Tuesday appointed Afroz Ahmad Mir as the new Managing Director of the state transporter, State Road Transport Corporation. Mir, son of PDP’s founder member Ghulam Hassan Mir, was Secretary J&K Khadi Village Industries Board.

Mir has replaced G A Sofi as MD SRTC and has been shifted to Secretary (Technical) in transport department.

Rashid Ahmad Qadri, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in the Khadi Board will take the charge of his boss, the government order suggests.

In another order, the government appointed Tufail Matoo as the Project Director of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan. With this order, Matoo has replaced IAS officer Saugat Biswas who was holding it as additional charge. Biswas will now take care of his main posting, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan on full time basis.

The orders were issued by the General Administration Department within hours after the cabinet met to discuss Kashmir situation.
