Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta Tuesday said that the Government will reply about Handwara killings at an “appropriate time”.

The Speaker said this while responding to the issue raised by, Er Abdul Rashid in the House during the Question Hour, an official spokesperson said early this evening.

Meanwhile, Minister for Agriculture Production Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura today informed the House about the factual position of Kud firing Incident which occurred on June 13, 2016.

The issue was raised by MLA Batamaloo Mr Noor Mohammed Sheikh in the House and he demanded the Government to give the statement on the incident.

The Minister while informing the House about the Kud incident said, “On June 13, 2016, at about, 4:30 pm, Police Station Kud received information that a bus bearing registration No. JK02Y-0444 (SRTC) on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu was stopped for checking by the Joint Check Post of CRPF & Police at Karnal Nallah Kud. All the passengers were asked to alight from the bus for thorough checking/frisking upon which a person who was also travelling in the same bus started firing at the CRPF/Police Personnel.”

In the incident, the minister said, three persons got bullet injuries, out of these three persons Smt. Mamta Devi (Age 45 years) W/O Late Shri Rajinder Singh R/O Chatha Ranibagh Jammu died while on way to hospital, Smt. Rubi (Age 32 years) W/O Ravi Kumar R/O H. No. 151, Lane No. 5, Krishena Nagar Jammu, has been shifted to military hospital Udhampur and Balbir Singh (Age 50 years) S/O Sadhu Ram R/O Gurdaspur Punjab, has been shifted to District Hospital Udhampur for immediate treatment. CRPF/Police Personnel deployed on Joint Check Post cordoned the bus and retaliated the fire which resulted in the death of the militant.

“During search, his identity has been established as Tanveer Sultan s/o Sheikh Sultan r/o Ibrahim Colony Bemina, Srinagar. One AK-47 and one pistol along with ammunition has been recovered from him,” he added.

“A case under FIR No. 53/2016 u/s 302/307/121/122/RPC, 7/25 Arms Act, 15/16 unlawful Activities Prevention Act stands registered at police Station Kud. Investigation in the case has been set into motion,” the Minister informed the House.
