Administration Friday suspended traffic on all the major roads of Bhaderwah district, including 110-km Batote-Kishtwar highway, due to landslides caused by incessant rains for 36 hours in the region.

Numerous passenger and commercial vehicles are stranded after all major roads of the district, including Batote-Kishtwar highway remain closed.

Officials of the district administration told Kashmir Life that in view of the safety of the people, all the major and link roads of the district have been closed. “If weather improves and landslides stop, we will try to clear the stranded vehicles first,” they said.

Suigawari-Chirala, Doda-Bhaderwah and Thathri-Gandoh roads remain closed due to landslides on second day today.

Authorities did not also allow any Doda and Kishtwar-bound vehicle to move beyond Nagrota and Udhampur this morning.

“Shooting stones at several places on Doda – Batote stretch of NH1B and landslide at Khelani, Dandal, Jathi,  Ragi-Nullah and Sanai Bhala have forced the closure of the road,” officials of DTI NH1B said.
