While demanding the removal of the CRPF bunker from the area, Habba Kadal residents Saturday assembled on road in protest against overnight excesses allegedly committed by CRPF personnel.
The protesters assembled near the recently refurbished old bridge and placed their vehicles to block the road in protest.
Residents alleged that the forces entered houses in the residential areas and thrashed civilians last night. “They behaved like ruffians,” said Aashiq, a resident. “They simply barged into our homes and beat us up like cattle.”
They also alleged the forces smashed windowpanes of buses, auto rickshaws and cars parked outside the road. “This bunker must go!” they protesters demanded.
