The upper reaches of Baderwah received fresh snowfall in mountainous belts in Kailash mountain range and Ashapati glacier surrounding Bhaderwah valley on Tuesday night.

This triggered extreme cold wave conditions in the Kashmir, forcing the dwellers to wear warm clothes and to light up bonfires as most of the people spent night in the open due to fear of quakes that shook the area in the wee hours on Wednesday.

Rains lashed mountainous belt of Doda, Bhaderwah valley, Kishtwar and plains of Jammu division on Tuesday night, officials said.
