Former finance minister and senior PDP leader Dr Haseeb Drabu on Monday said that he will raise the issue of security of the Kashmiri students studying at New Delhi with the Government of India.

Drabu who at present is camping in New Delhi told KNS over phone that he is meeting union home minister Rajnath Singh to ensure that the Kashmiri students would not face any unnecessary harassment in future. “Our top priority would be to ensure that the students hailing from Kashmir and are currently studying in New Delhi must remain safe and secure and that we are hopeful of the positive responsive from the union government in this regard,” Drabu said.

Pertinently following pro-Afzal protests on Feb 9 at JNU campus, there are reports of Kashmiri students being harassed by the police.

The Hurriyat led by Syed Ali Geelani and JKLF has called for the valley wide shut down on Feb 27 against the arrests.
