Delhi Police Monday evening arrested Delhi University professor SAR Geelani in connection with the sedition case lodged against him at the Parliament Street police station.
Reports reaching here said that he was arrested around 8:30 PM in union capital.
On the eve of death anniversaries of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat (9, 11 Feb) two events were organized in New Delhi which snowballed into controversies. Prof SAR Geelani had spoken at a function in Press Club of India (PCI) to commemorate the death anniversaries of Guru and Bhat. He was charged with sedition after rightwing Hindu nationalist activists demanded action against him for his “anti-national activities”.
