The 24 hour long Ahmad Nagar, encounter between suspected militants and the forces ended Monday on the death of two militants. During the gun battle two residential houses were also engulfed in fire while as two Special Operation Group (SOG) men were injured.

According to police sources the identity of the deceased militants was being ascertained.

The encounter had started on Sunday after two militants hiding in the residential house of Abdul Majid Rangrez, started firing on the forces.

Giving details about the incident locals told Kashmir Life that, “the forces cordoned off the area after they came in civil vehicles and soon a gunfight started in the area.”

Late Sunday evening forces suspended the operation for night and restarted it Monday morning.

Rangrez and his wife came out of their house after remaining trapped and spending full night with the holed up militants.

Police sources said that forces had a specific input about the presence of militants in Ahmad Nagar area after which they laid a cordon.

Meanwhile, People of the area came out on the roads and started protesting as the gunfight ended.

Locals said that fire has engulfed in two houses in which the militants were hiding. Sources said that fire engines were busy in extinguishing the fire.
