Two persons died while four others got seriously injured when a truck that belonged to Beacon fell 100 feet down into a gorge.

According local sources, a Beacon truck that was plying on Uri-Nambla road fell into 100 feet gorge resulting in the death of two labourers namely: Farooq Ahmad Mir s/o Sona Mir and Arif Shaikh s/o Sulaiman Shaikh both residents of Nambla, Uri near Syed Pora.

Four other persons including driver got injured, the locals informed.

They identified the injured as Inderjeet Singh, Arif Ahmad Shaikh, Muhammad Salim Khan and Muhammad Ashraf Bhat and said they have been shifted to Sub District Hospital Uri.

Meanwhile locals have staged protests in Nambla accusing Beacon of not developing the road on time. “Uri-Nambla is being developed and widened by Beacon for last three years but nothing concrete is being seen on ground,” the locals alleged. They said that local authorities have been informed on timely basis but they were turning blind eye to their demands.
