Ahead of CM Mufti’s Visit, ‘Blast’ Ripped off in Shopian’s Mini Secretariat

Panic spread in South Kashmir’s Shopian Monday when a blast ripped off near the entrance of the Mini Secretariat, which was to be inaugurated by the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed today.

Eye witnesses informed Kashmir Life that that the blast occurred around 11:10am Monday.

“We are still ascertaining the situation,” the police official said. “It looks like a tyre blast.” But as per the locals, a part of road has caved in to the impact of the blast. “Police have beefed up reinforcement and have put machines at task.”

The official said the CM had already cancelled his Shopian visit last night.

Off late, south Kashmir is witnessing increased militancy related incidents. Incidentally, the ruling PDP has its main political base in south Kashmir.
