Several protest demonstrations were held in Srinagar on Wednesday ahead of International Human Rights Day to draw the world’s attention towards rights’ violations in Kashmir Valley.

A protest demonstration jointly led by Hurriyat leaders Shabbir Ahmed Dar, Mohammad Iqbal Mir and human rights defender Mohammad Ahsan Untoo was held at Press Colony in Srinagar.

Hurriyat leader Shabbir Ahmed Dar while speaking on the occasion said that all human beings were equal irrespective of their religious beliefs, colour and creed, and thus were entitled to basic human rights.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Chairman Zafar Ahmad Butt and Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Syed Bashir Andrabi, Bilal Siddiqui and Moulvi Bashir Ahmad held two separate protest demonstrations in Srinagar to lodge protest with the world community against increase in human rights violations by Indian army and police in the territory.

Addressing protesters on the occasion, the leaders said that India had unleashed a reign of terror in every nook and corner of the territory to crush the freedom struggle.

Meanwhile, senior Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmad Shah in his message in connection with the International Human Rights Day, said, the criminal silence maintained by the world community with regard to unabated human rights violations in Jammu and Kashmir is shocking.
