Ahead of PM Modi’s Srinagar visit, 237 Hurriyat activists and what authorities call “anti national elements” (ANEs) have been rounded up in the ongoing security crackdown across valley.

The number was recorded till 8am on Wednesday morning, as per the official document available with Kashmir Life.

The document put the count of detained Hurriyat activists lodged in different prisons at 141. The maximum arresters took place in Baramulla (22), followed by Srinagar (21), Shopian (17), Budgam (16), Pulwama (12), Islamabad (11), Awantipora (10), Sopore-Kupwara-Bandipora (8 each), Handwara (6) and Ganderbal (2).

Also, 96 youth described as ‘ANEs’, including stone pelters and ex-militants were detained ahead of the high-profile visit to summer capital. Srinagar (59) leads with such arrests, followed by Islamabad (10), Shopian (9), Awantipora (6), Pulwama (4), Bandipora (3), Kulgam-Ganderbal (2 each) and Sopore (1).
