Ahead of the Seerat Conference, government Friday sealed Jamia masjid Srinagar while Hurriyat (m) chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was again placed under house detention ahead of the weekly congregational prayers.
A spokesperson of Hurriyat (m) told Kashmir Life that a Seerat Conference was scheduled in Jamia masjid and Hurriyat leaders including octogenarian leader like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Moulana Abbas Ansari and JKLF chief Yasin Malik were invited.
A large contingent of CRPF has sealed the gates of historic Jamia masjid since early morning, he said. “Mirwaiz sahib was also placed under house arrest early today to stop him from reaching Jamia Masjid.”
