The 226.84-acre AIIMS Jammu campus is located in Vijaypur in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district, along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway-44. The hospital and medical college complex is situated a few kilometres from the International Border.

The CISF is expected to deploy an armed contingent at the campus, bringing AIIMS Jammu under the security cover of the central force, according to officials.

The proposed deployment is linked to the strategic location of the institute in Samba district, close to the International Border. If implemented, AIIMS Jammu would be the first hospital in India to receive such security cover from the CISF.
