Air India Flight Makes Emergency Halt in Kolkata After Engine Fault

   

SRINAGAR: An Air India flight (AI180) from San Francisco to Mumbai was halted at Kolkata airport early Tuesday after a technical snag was detected in its left engine.

The Boeing 777-300 landed as scheduled at 12.45 am. However, due to the issue, takeoff was delayed. Around 5.20 am, passengers were asked to deplane after it became clear the snag could not be fixed immediately.

As per media reports, special clearance was obtained before disembarkation. The decision was taken as a safety measure, the flight captain told passengers.

All 212 passengers were served breakfast. Some were shifted to hotels, while others were accommodated on alternate flights to Mumbai.
