Seven of eight newly elected members of Legislative Council took an oath in Jammu. The eighth one, Naeem Akhtar of PDP could not join them.

Naeem Akhtar presently in Srinagar told Kashmir Life over phone that he had to flew back to Kashmir as his mother was not feeling well. “My mother was ill so I had to fly back and I couldn’t remain present in the oath ceremony.”

With re-election of two MLCs, six members of the Upper House retired on Friday after completing their six years term. The members who retired include, M Y Taing, former minister R S Chib, Murtaza Ahmad Khan, Nizam-ud-Din Khatana, Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat and Mohammad Amin Bhat.
