Security cover has been beefed around Srinagar’s Municipal Park, where Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir (reality of Kashmir) event is likely to take place Saturday afternoon, organizing committee of the event informed Kashmir Life.

As per the event managers, all entry points towards Park have been closed by police for the civilian movement. “After granting permission for the event, it seems state is deliberately creating hassles by beefing security cover for civilian movement,” Khurram Parvez, coordinator of Haqeeqat-e-Kashmir said.

Reportedly, some civil society members, journalists working for local, national and international media, beside some civilians have managed to reach in Park.

“The organizers of the event have put scores of hoardings at display in Park, depicting sufferings and state of affairs in Kashmir,” a local journalist present in Park told Kashmir Life.

Pertinently, state gave nod to Haqeeqat event on Friday evening after maintaining hush over its fate.

“The way security is discouraging civilian movement towards Park, there are apprehensions that state authorities might not actually allow the event to happen at all,” one of the organisers told Kashmir Life.

He said: “Police has barred many participants to reach at venue coming from different parts of the Valley, besides seized event related material.”
