Minister for Education Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has expressed grief over the tragic fire incident at Check-e-Methan (Bagh-e-Mehtab), in which five residential and non residential structures were gutted on Saturday.

Bukhari, the spokesman said directed the district administration Srinagar to provide all necessary assistance to the affected families so that they can resurrect themselves, adding the process may be expedited in view of the prevailing winter season.

He asked the district administration to ensure distribution of adequate ex-gratia compensation to the victims of this tragedy besides providing them all necessary relief and rehabilitation items through Red Cross at an earliest.

He also asked the municipal authorities to facilitate immediate issuance of permissions for reconstruction of the residential houses so that the fire-hit families of Chek-e-Methan are able to cope up with the winter vagaries.

On the directions of Bukhari, a delegation from his private office also visited the fire victims ensuring them all possible help in their rehabilitation.
