Shalteng-Palpora Bridge

Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari Thursday conducted extensive tour of Batamaloo constituency.

During the visit, the Minister announced Rs 3 crore additional funds for completion of Shalteng-Palpora Bridge which is being constructed under NABARD.

He visited the site of the bridge and asked Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPPC) to restart construction of the bridge and ensure its completion by July 2016. He asked the R&B Department to take up the work of development of approach roads on either side of the bridge, an official statement said this evening.

Bukhari was accompanied by MLA Batamaloo, Noor Mohammad Sheikh, MLC and PDP district president Srinagar, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, MD JKPCC, Commissioner SMC, SSP Srinagar, Director CAPD, Chief Engineers PHE, SE PDD, SE R&B, Deputy Director Health, CMO Srinagar, CEO Srinagar and other sectoral officers

The Minister Later asked R&B Department to dismantle old single storey structure of higher secondary school Gund Hassi Bath and augment the school accommodation with the construction of new four storey building. He said the new building block should be provided with lavatory and washroom facilities.

Interacting with the people at Gund Hassi Bath, the Minister asked the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to examine the demand of utilization of compensatory amount of Rs 6.50 crore of Kahcharaie land for purchase of alternate piece of land to be utilized for construction of a new higher secondary school and playground in the area.

The R&B officers were given a deadline for the completion of first two floors of trauma hospital at Lawaypora by 20 February 2015.

On the public demand at Lawaypora, the SE Power Development Department was asked to examine the issue of augmentation of receiving station Narbal to improve the power supply in the area.

The Minister also visited Government Boys Secondary School Lawaypora and asked the R&B officers to prepare DPR for reconstruction of the old building blocks in view of the shortage of accommodation and dilapidated condition of the structures. Director Floriculture was asked to immediately take up the maintenance of the lawn of the said school.

At Mujgund, the Minister asked the R&B officers to assess the condition of the NTPHC and, if found unsafe for use, the structure shall be got dismantled and the new PHC constructed on the alternative piece of land donated by the locals for this purpose. The SE R&B was asked to prepare estimates simultaneously for the construction of the new proposed building and in the alternate the director health services was asked to arrange rented accommodation for the functioning of the said PHC by the time the new building is constructed.

Addressing a demand for introduction of a smart classroom in Boys Higher Secondary Mujgund, the Minister asked the JK Bank Ltd authorities to examine the demand and initiate process in this regard.

The Minister ordered R&B officers to construct two culverts near Fishermen Colony Mujgund for convenience and comfort of the general public of the area.

The Minister asked the R&B officers to improve the riding surface of the link roads at Takanwari, Tengpora, Umar Colony, Mustafabad Colony and Bhakshipora without any further delay.  Commissioner SMC was asked to complete the tendered works of the Maloora outfall drainage scheme presently under execution within one month.

At HMT traffic intersection, the Minister asked Brigadier Das, Chief Engineer Beacon who was present on spot to develop and smoothen the dilapidated patch of road near petrol pump besides removing the impediments coming in the alignment of the road.

SMC commissioner was asked to prepare a comprehensive DPR for main trunk drain along-with sub mains and laterals for Umar Colony at HMT. The Minister directed the Irrigation and flood control officers to plug the breaches along Shalteng Bund to safeguard the habitations and public property.

The DC Srinagar and R&B officers were asked to initiate the process of acquisition of land after ascertaining its title at Gousia morh Housing Colony for the free movement of the vehicular traffic.

The Minister also took stock of the progress of work on the bridge on river Jhelum connecting Lal Chowk Bund side with Convent Rajbagh. He asked the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to provide NoC to JKPPC by tomorrow for construction of pedestrian subway on approach road from GPO side. The subway will facilitate smooth movement of pedestrians on the Jhelum Bund.
