The Yatra to Holy Cave of Amarnath commenced on Saturday today from both Baltal and the Pahalgam routes.
“7,486 Yatris left from Baltal route and 5,091 from Pahalgam route for the Holy Cave,” an official spokesperson said last late evening.
“On the first day of Amarnath Yatra, 8916 pilgrims paid obeisance at the Holy Cave,” the spokesperson added.
Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh, J&K Governor, N N Vohra participated in “special Puja” at the cave early Saturday.
