SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday reviewed the arrangements for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra along the Pahalgam axis by inspecting key facilities at the Nunwan Base Camp and directing officials to ensure smooth movement and better services for pilgrims.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat, Chief Executive Officer of the Pahalgam Development Authority, the Additional Deputy Commissioner, SDM Pahalgam and other senior officers, Garg visited the frisking point, Nunwan Base Camp, Hikers Park and the Club to assess the preparedness of various departments during the departure of the first batch of pilgrims through the route.
The Divisional Commissioner inspected the frisking point, eKYC verification and RFID registration counters and reviewed the overall pilgrim facilitation mechanism. He also interacted with pilgrims to obtain first-hand feedback on the facilities and services being provided.
During the inspection, Garg directed officials to maintain close coordination to ensure hassle-free arrangements and uninterrupted availability of essential facilities, with particular emphasis on the safety, comfort and convenience of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage.
Taking note of the heavy influx of unregistered pilgrims, he instructed the concerned departments to streamline the on-the-spot registration process to reduce waiting time and ensure faster registration. He also asked officials to provide adequate guidance and assistance to pilgrims opting for on-the-spot registration.
At Hikers Park, Garg reviewed the token-based RFID registration facility, while at the Club he inspected the on-the-spot RFID registration and eKYC updation process. He appreciated the efforts of the RFID registration teams and directed them to complete the daily registration quota in a timely manner.
Stressing that a large number of pilgrims are expected to undertake the pilgrimage in the coming days, the Divisional Commissioner instructed all departments to keep the arrangements fully operational and responsive to ensure a safe, smooth and convenient Yatra for devotees.
