Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, (SASB) has decided to provide an insurance cover of Rs one lakh in case of accidental death within the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the Yatra 2013, period. The decision to this effect has been taken by the SASB on the instructions of N. N. Vohra, Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, who is also the Chairman of SASB. The insurance will cover all the intending pilgrims possessing valid registration.
Giving further details, Navin K. Choudhary, Chief Executive Officer SASB informed that the insurance cover will be available to all registered Yatris for the period commencing one week ahead of the commencement of the pilgrimage and ending one week after the conclusion of the Yatra.
He further clarified that the insurance will cover any accidental death which takes place anywhere in the State while travelling onward to the Yatra Base Camps as well as while moving on the Yatra tracks.
The CEO has requested all pilgrims not to embark on the Yatra without obtaining valid registration after securing a Compulsory Health Certificate. “It is in the interest of all pilgrims to undergo a proper medical checkup before registering themselves, for which elaborate arrangements have been made by the Shrine Board,” he said.
Possession of a valid Yatra Permit would also enable the pilgrims to be covered by Accident Insurance. He added.
