Speaking at a review meeting with Deputy Commissioners on Wednesday, Bidhuri underscored the campaign’s key objective of mobilizing the general public to actively engage in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, aimed at familiarizing them with government welfare schemes.

In the comprehensive review of the campaign’s coverage, Div Com stressed the crucial need for universal coverage across all panchayats in districts to drive rural transformation.

He emphasised the importance of implementing comprehensive measures and extensive efforts, particularly through Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Vans, to ensure the success of the program.

Deputy Commissioners shared insights into the ongoing information dissemination and awareness initiatives under Viksit Bharat Sankalap Yatra. They highlighted the effective use of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Vans to educate people about various centrally sponsored schemes and the procedures to avail benefits.

Simultaneously, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the current power scenario in the valley and the availability of electricity to consumers across all districts. He issued directives to concerned officers, urging strict adherence to the power curtailment schedule to prevent any potential crisis. Bidhuri also urged vigilance against power theft and discouraged the use of crude electric devices.

Considering the challenges posed by inclement weather, Div Com scrutinised the exigency plan of the Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) for the swift restoration of electricity in case of heavy snowfall. The review also encompassed the assessment of buffer stock levels for transformers, electric poles, and the functionality of workshops.

In a forward-looking statement, Div Com expressed optimism that the procurement of additional electricity would significantly enhance the overall power scenario in the valley.

In addition to these discussions, the Divisional Commissioner chaired a meeting to deliberate on the revision of market value guidelines and rules, as well as the adjustment of rates for the upcoming calendar year.
