Clashes amid protest broke out near Batpora village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district—the site where forces are engaged with militants in a fierce gunfight.

As per reports, hundreds of people came out, and started pelting stones at forces near the encounter site.

Already two militants have been killed in an ongoing gunfight and one militant is still engaged in a gunfight with forces, as per reports. Among the slain—one is said to a top Hizb commander.

The encounter broke out last evening when joint party of army’s Rashtriya Rifles and police’s Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a joint operation following a specific input about the presence of militants in the area.

Due to violent clashes in the area, Baramulla-Banihal train service has been suspended for the day.
