Hundreds of people on Monday attended the funeral prayers of civilian Bilal Ahmad Ganie at his native Narwa village, who was allegedly killed after militants attacked an army camp in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday late night.

Reports said that hundreds of people poured onto streets as the body of a slain youth was lifted towards a ground where his funeral prayer was offered.

Ganie, a driver by profession, was allegedly killed in an exchange of fire between militants and the army at Kakapora on Sunday late night.

He was critically injured after suffering a bullet injury in his head, following which he was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

Reports also said that women and children showered toffees and flowers on Bilal’s body.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district following the killing of a civilian.

All the shops, business establishments, Schools, government offices, are shut in the area.

Internet services were suspended in Pulwama district.

An official said that 4G/3G/2G services were suspended in the district “as a precautionary measure”

Train services were also suspended in south Kashmir following the killing of a civilian.
