Nehama village of south Kashmir’s Kulgam is being observed a complete shutdown on Monday on the third consecutive day against the vandalizing of property, arrests, and thrashing of inmates allegedly by the army on Friday.

Residents of Nehama Kulgam alleged that the Army troopers posted in the locality on Friday went “berserk” after grenade attack took place as they ransacked the windowpanes of the vehicles and shops and beat up the inmates without any provocation.

To protest against the “forces highhandedness” shopkeepers didn’t open their shops in Nehama on Monday morning on the third consecutive day and traffic also remained off the roads.

Protesters raised pro-freedom slogans and sought action against the forces personnel involved in harassing the locals.

Locals alleged that soon after the grenade attack took place in Nehama village on Friday, the Army went berserk in the village and damaged vehicles.

They also demanded the removal of Army camp from the locality.
