The slain HMT youth who was killed when hit by a tear gas shell in outskirts of Srinagar city was laid to rest late Saturday evening.
Reports said that thousands of people from adjoining areas participated in the funeral prayers of the slain youth. They held strong pro-freedom and anti-India slogans.
Identified as Gowhar Nazir Dar, he was student of engineering at SSM College, Pattan.
The incident happened hours after PM Narendra Modi flew to Chanderkote from Srinagar where he addressed a rally.
Youth were protesting against the ban on ‘Million March’ in Zainakote area when clashes ensued between forces and youth. Gowhar was hit by a tear gas shell fired by forces.
He was rushed to SKIMS Soura where he succumbed to his injuries.
Separatists across ideological divide have called for a complete shutdown on Sunday to protest the killing while Services Selection Board also cancelled all its scheduled exams for tomorrow.
