SRINAGAR

Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah Sunday said the voters of Amira Kadal constituency would choose work and development over hollow words of the detractors. Addressing public meeting in Mehjoor Nagar, Omar Abdullah said that National Conference was committed to rebuilding Srinagar with the spirit of resilience and the party would leave no stone unturned to rehabilitate the flood affected victims with dignity.

“We don’t believe in playing politics over a humanitarian issue and we don’t believe exploiting the misery of people. Today standing in Mehjoor Nagar I assure you that National Conference will not rest until we rehabilitate the last flood-affected victim with utmost dignity and respect. Unlike PDP, we did not choose politics over flood victim rehabilitation and kept reiterating that the rehabilitation of the flood victims should remain a topmost priority. This is why we opposed holding of the Assembly Elections as we wanted all Administrative Efforts to focus on the flood victim rehabilitation. However, PDP ran to Delhi and demanded elections and asked Delhi to forget about the flood victims. Now, we have taken these elections as a challenge – a challenge to our dignity and the future of our children and we will ensure that PDP remains at bay in Srinagar and does not get to wreak further havoc with the lives of thousands of people who have suffered enormous damages due to the floods”, Omar Abdullah said while addressing the public meeting in Mehjoor Nagar in Sunday.

Omar Abdullah said that Amira Kadal constituency had witnessed unprecedented development and that National Conference MLA from Amira Kadal, Nasir Aslam Wani had left no stone unturned to serve the constituents of Amira Kadal with utmost dedication and sincerity. “While the floods have caused huge damage to properties, businesses and infrastructure, it remains a fact that Amira Kadal today has dozens of new community centers, health centers and developmental works that speak louder than any words. I assure you that National Conference will continue to serve your interests with utmost dedication and zeal. We will rebuild Amira Kadal together and not only reclaim what the floods took from us but go a step further and touch new frontiers of development”, Omar Abdullah said.

The public meeting was also addressed by NC Provincial President and MLA Amira Kadal Nasir Aslam Wani who is the party’s candidate from the constituency. Nasir said that he was committed to ensuring the total and complete rehabilitation of the flood victims and would not rest until justice is done to the flood victims.
