SRINAGAR: Amit Shah is slated to lead a significant security review meeting on Tuesday, concentrating on Jammu & Kashmir’s law and order, reports appearing in the media said.

The session, set for the afternoon, will scrutinize the security grid’s performance, zero-terror strategy, and matters related to the region’s security and development. The agenda encompasses assessments of the area domination plan, zero-terror strategy, law and order, cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), and other security issues.

Attendees will include Jammu & Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police RR Swain, and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Director Generals of Police from the Central Reserve Police Force and Border Security Force, along with relevant officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu & Kashmir, will also participate.

The agenda extends to a review of development projects, particularly focusing on the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu & Kashmir launched in 2021 with a budget of Rs 28,400 crore.

During the meeting, the Home Minister is expected to assess the progress and impact of development initiatives, aligning with ongoing efforts to bolster the security apparatus and promote comprehensive development in the region.

This session follows a similar high-level review conducted by Amit Shah on January 13 last year, emphasizing a policy of zero tolerance against militancy and the need to strengthen the 360-degree security mechanism. Another review in April 2023 addressed various aspects of the security situation and the functioning of the security grid in the Union Territory.
