Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK) has welcomed the decision of the state cabinet to grant the financial autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKACCL) and hoped that the overall autonomy of the institution too is preserved.

In a statement issued here AMK spokesman said that it was a long pending issue that had virtually become a roadblock in the independent functioning of the Academy. “It will go a long way in making it real autonomous body that would fulfil the mandate as enshrined in its constitution” he said adding that besides Kashmir University it is the only institution in the state that has been created by virtue of Jammu and Kashmir Constitution so its significance is very important in many respects. The spokesman said that the literary fraternity appreciates the role of Chief Minister (President of Academy) Mehbooba Mufti, Minister for Culture Haseeb Drabu and Secretary Dr Aziz Hajini for taking this important step.

While underlining the importance of making the Academy more vibrant, the spokesman said that the overall autonomy of the institution must be preserved so that it is able to deliver and fulfil its duties in the field of art, culture and languages.
