The three slain “foreign” militants who were killed in an encounter at Kralgund area of Handwara have been buried at Bungus area of Kupwara district in northern part of Kashmir on Wednesday morning.

A government official quoted by a news gathering agency said that the bodies of the slain Lashkar-i-Toiba militants were handed over to local Auqaf Committee at Hoshar hamlet along Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Bungus Valley.

The bodies were taken to the frontier area for burial to maintain law and order in Kralgund and Langate localities, the official said.

Meanwhile, scores of people participated in the funeral prayers of the trio before being laid to rest near Hoshar Ground in Bungus.

Earlier, the local Auqaf committee had approached the police for the return of the bodies, but the authorities refused them to hand over the bodies.
