SRINAGAR: Police in Anantnag arrested a bootlegger at a checkpoint established near NHW Donipora Bejbehara Anantnag and recovered illicit liquor from his possession.
The spokesman said that policemen at the checkpoint intercepted a bootlegger identified as Muzafer Ahmad Beigh, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Hawal Gojiwara Srinagar and recovered 24 bottles of illicit liquor from his possession. He has been taken to Police Station Bijbehara where he remains in custody.
In this regard, Police have registered a case under FIR No. 140/2019 under relevant sections of law and initiated investigation in the matter.
Police have also requested the community members to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law, the spokesman said.
