SRINAGAR: Governor Satya Pal Malik has extended warm greetings to the people on Diwali, the festival of lights, and hoped that this auspicious occasion would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the Jammu and Kashmir.

In his message of greetings, Governor observed that this festival symbolizes the triumph of truth and righteousness over falsehood and of good over evil and highlights the ethos and high values of the country’s civilization history.

Governor hoped that the festival would further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, brotherhood, amity, tranquility and secularism, which are the hallmarks of our glorious composite cultural traditions and prayed for the well-being of the people of the Jammu and Kashmir.

In the meantime, advisors to Governor, KK Sharma and K Vijay Kumar also extended Diwali greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Sharma hoped that the festival of lights would usher an era of peace, prosperity and progress in J&K.

He hoped that people of different sections of society would celebrate the festival in accordance with age-old traditions of mutual brotherhood and communal harmony.

Similarly, Kumar in his message said that the festival of lights symbolises joy and happiness, celebrates victory of good over evil and light over darkness, the Advisor said in a statement. He wished that the festival brightens every home and brings joy and contentment to the people. He urged everyone to celebrate the festival in a pollution-free manner.
