Scores of Anganwadi workers, helpers and supervisors on Saturday held a protest demonstration in Press Colony against authorities.

The protesters demanded the regularization of supervisors, helpers who have been drawing salary for past 20 years. “However, from last one year, the workers are not being paid salary,” claimed a protestor Muneera Akhtar.

“We have repeatedly asked the government about our concerns, however, they didn’t pay heed to our demands,” the protestors said.

The protesters also demanded increase in the wages of workers.

“It is difficult for us to survive due to low salary when the inflation in market is high. Our children are suffering,” Muneera added.

“Every new government only publishes new circulars, but doesn’t solve our genuine demands,” said Jameela Sabri.

The protestors pledged that the union will prolong the strike if the demands are not met.
