SRINAGAR: A gunfight broke out between militants and counter insurgent forces in Chakisamad village in DH Pora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday morning.
Reports said that a joint team of Army, CRPF and Police launched a cordon and search operation in Chakisamad village of DH Pora area after having credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area.

As the joint team of Army, Police and CRPF approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
When last reports came intermittent firing was going on.
This is the second encounter of the day. Earlier in the morning today, encounter was started at Sirhama village of Srigufwara in Anantnag district.
