SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience another spell of wet weather over the coming 10 days, with the Meteorological Department warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of Jammu division and the possibility of flash floods and landslides from August 9 to 11.
A MeT official said August 7 and 8 are expected to bring light to moderate rain and thundershowers at many places, with brief spells of intense showers possible at a few locations.
Between August 9 and 11, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at most places, while some districts of Jammu division may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall. A few areas of Kashmir division could also experience brief intense heavy showers.
The department has warned that torrential rain and intense showers during this period could trigger flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas and lead to waterlogging in low-lying locations
For August 12 to 17, the forecast indicates the possibility of light rain and thundershowers at many places, with brief intense showers at a few locations.
In its advisory for August 9-11, the MeT urged people to avoid nallahs, landslide-prone areas and other vulnerable locations. Authorities have also been advised to remain vigilant in view of the anticipated weather conditions.
