SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a six-month stop-gap arrangement for the post of Deputy Commissioner, Food Safety, placing two Assistant Commissioners as in-charge Deputy Commissioners while assigning two other officers to the posts with immediate effect.
According to Government Order No. 614-JK (HME) of 2026, issued by the Health and Medical Education Department on August 7, Aijaz Iqbal Saboon and Yameen Ul Nabi have been placed as Incharge Deputy Commissioners, Food Safety, in their own pay and grade.
The arrangement will remain in force for six months or until the vacancies are filled on a regular basis on the recommendations of the Departmental Promotion Committee/Public Service Commission, whichever is earlier.
Saboon, who was serving as Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Baramulla, has been posted as Incharge Deputy Commissioner Food Safety (ICLC), Jammu, while Yameen Ul Nabi, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Srinagar, has been assigned as Incharge Deputy Commissioner Food Safety (ICLC), Kashmir.
The government has also posted Rafi Ahmad Dar as Incharge Deputy Commissioner Food Safety, Jammu, and Hilal Ahmad Mir as Incharge Deputy Commissioner Food Safety, Kashmir. Both were awaiting orders of adjustment.
The order makes it clear that the stop-gap arrangement will not give the officers any preferential right to promotion as Deputy Commissioners, Food Safety, when regular promotions are considered under the rules.
The appointments will also remain subject to the outcome of any writ petitions pending before competent courts, the order said.
