Anti- braid chopping protests erupted in southern Kashmir’s Islamabad district on Friday post-congregational prayers. The call for protests was given by the joint resistance leadership.
“People held anti-braid chopping protests in Lalchowk, Reshi Bazar and Mattan Chowk area of Islamabad,” local sources informed Kashmir Life.
Police and other forces were deployed in the town to quell the protests.
Youths also pelted stones on the deployment of forces who responded by firing teargas shells to disperse the protesters. “One youth was arrested by the police,” locals said.
For past three weeks, Kashmir witnessed over 50 incidents of braid chopping across. Today morning a alleged braid chopper succumbed to injures after he was hit by a brick on Wednesday evening in Islamabad district during protests.
